Brian Harold Dittman

Brian Harold Dittman, 74, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida. Brian was born on April 20, 1952, the son of Harold and Alta Marie (Wesemann) Dittman of Hampshire, Illinois. Brian was a 1970 graduate of Hampshire High School. A gifted musician, Brian earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Illinois State University, Class of 1974. Brian married the love of his life, Katherine Milewski on November 17, 1974. They shared 51 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family. Brian’s career with the Xerox Corporation spanned 43 years and took him and his family from Illinois to Carrollton, Texas in 1983. His dedication, work ethic, and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Brian enjoyed many hobbies and passions throughout his life including farming, camping, boating, symphony music, creating home videos, photography, model trains, and visiting family around the country. He could skillfully play the piano, accordion, clarinet, and bass clarinet, and he had the remarkable ability to pick up nearly any instrument and play it. Music remained one of the great joys of his life. In retirement, he loved traveling in his dream RV and exploring all the beauty this nation has to offer. Brian especially loved following the careers and lifetime adventures of his children, as well as the activities and sporting events of his grandchildren. Brian is survived by his wife Kathy, his children Eric Dittman of Norfolk, Virginia; his daughter Angela (Tom) Hodge of Jacksonville, Florida; his sister, Mary Henk of Hampshire Illinois; and his brother, Mark (Kristin) Dittman of Henderson, Nevada. Brian will be missed by his loving grandchildren Neil, Olivia, and Aiden Dittman and Logan Hodge, as well as his nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends. Brian will be remembered for sharing comical stories followed by his own deep belly laugh, his musical talent, gentle spirit, and love for his family. Brian will be laid to rest at the Hampshire Center Cemetery. A celebration of life is being planned in Hampshire at a later date.
