Debora Lynn “Debbie” Pace, 76, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born January 16, 1950, Debbie was the daughter of the late Edwin and Marjorie (Davis) Polnow. She grew up alongside her brothers, Jim (Kathy) Polnow and John (Jane) Polnow, who survive her. On August 5, 1968, Debbie married the love of her life, Timothy Pace. Together they shared nearly 58 years of marriage and built a family that was the center of her life. Debbie is survived by her husband, Timothy; her children, Jodi (Jerry) Croner, Jeremy “Jay” (Lesley) Pace, and Juli (Joe) Miceli; her seven cherished grandchildren, Olivia (Jake) Lindsay, Logan (Anna) Croner, Anna Pace, Jonah Pace, Joey Miceli, Maddie Miceli, and Mia Miceli; and her three beloved great-grandchildren, Sawyer Lindsay, Scarlett Lindsay, and Haven Croner. She is also survived by her brothers, Jim (Kathy) Polnow and John (Jane) Polnow, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Marjorie Polnow, and her parents-in-law, Francis and Margaret Pace. Debbie worked as a legal secretary before retiring to devote her time to her family. She also proudly served the Village of Union as a trustee for many years, helping support the community she loved. Known affectionately as “Nana” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she played an active role in their lives and lovingly cared for them throughout the years. More than a grandmother, Nana was a constant source of comfort, encouragement, and unconditional love, creating memories her family will cherish forever. A lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Union, Illinois, Debbie’s faith was the foundation of her life. She faithfully shared her love of the Lord through music, singing and playing guitar with the church band for many years. Her faith guided the way she lived each day, with kindness, humility, compassion, and a servant’s heart. Whether caring for her family, helping others, or offering a listening ear, Debbie reflected God’s love through her actions and unwavering devotion to those around her. She enjoyed tending a large vegetable garden, cultivating beautiful flowers throughout her yard, and creating handmade crafts. A gifted crafter, Debbie especially looked forward to participating in the annual Holiday House Walk, where she shared her talents and handcrafted creations with family, friends, and the community. Above all else, family was her greatest joy. Nothing made Nana happier than spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 6821 Main Street, Union, Illinois. Visitation will continue on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service at Union Cemetery in Union, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Union Fire Department, or Marengo Rescue Squad. Debbie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, selfless heart, and devotion to her family. Her love, guidance, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
