Lorraine P. Carol

Lorraine P. Carol, 80, of Hampshire passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 in her home. She was born Dec. 27, 1937 in Lowell, Mass. the daughter of Albert and Alice (Levy) Carpentier. She attended the all French speaking St. John Baptiste Catholic School in Lowell and later received her GED. Lorraine married Albert F. Carol Jr. on Sept. 10, 1955 in Lowell, Mass. and was a Hampshire resident for 50 years. She was a District 300 School bus driver for 25 years and a former volunteer EMT for the Hampshire Fire District for 4 years. She was a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and a former volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Lorraine was an avid knitter, seamstress and was well known for her ability to fix anything. In 2013 she competed in the local Coon Creek Classic, placing 2nd in the 70 and older age group. Surviving are her 6 children, Lorraine “Lorry” (Stephen) Esh, Jeanne (Michael) Korzeniowski, Susan (Armando) Lira, Albert (Deborah) Carol III, Pauline (Chuck) Kikuts, and Lisa Roberts; 15 grandchildren, Monica (Corey) Mitchell, Benjamin (Sarra) Esh, Shannon (Andrew) Adamany, Erika (Dean) Esh, Nicole (Casey) Knoepfle, Aaron Lira, Daniel (Emily) Lira, Rebecca (Patrick) Miller, Leah Rae (Kyle) Szatkowski, Kendall Kikuts, Nathaniel Kikuts, Michael (Mickenzie) Roberts, Bryan (Vanessa) Roberts, Amanda (Zach) Roberts, and Emily Roberts; 15 great grandchildren, Andrew, Ariana, Elijah, Joshua, Henry, William, Bentley, Kayla, Abigail, Caleb, Naomi, Natalie, Lauren, Landon, Hudson, baby Szatkowski, baby Adamany, and baby Lira. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Albert on Sept. 17, 2006; and a sister, Yvette Barry. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Friday, Sept. 28 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson Ave., Hampshire. Burial will follow in the St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, Sept. 27 at Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire with a rosary at 3:45pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls for their televised Sunday Mass program, c/o 1140 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607 or the St. Charles Borromeo Church Bldg. Fund.
