Mary Jo Stojan

Mary Jo Stojan, 93, of Hampshire, IL, passed away Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, at her home in Hampshire, surrounded by her family. She was born February 3rd, 1933, in Burlington IL, the daughter of George Jr. and Loretta (Schlick) Herrmann. Mary Jo attended St. Charles Borromeo School and graduated from Burlington High School in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart, Franklin“Buzz” Stojan, on January 17th, 1953, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Hampshire. Mary Jo was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed hosting many delicious holiday meals for her family and relatives. In addition, she worked at various positions, most notably serving as Hampshire Village Clerk from 1978-1983, and then for various attorneys in Elgin and Hampshire. She especially enjoyed attending the many sports activities of her grandchildren, as well as following the Chicago sports teams. Mary Jo was greatly loved by her children and extended family, and will be dearly missed by all of them. She is survived by her children, Jackie (Gary) Eberly of Hampshire, Kayla (Dave) Tully of Genoa, Kevin (Dena) Stojan of Genoa, and Brad (Tera) Stojan of Kingston; her son-in-law, Vincent Dorr of Arizona; her 13 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, George Herrmann of Genoa, Elaine (Don) Meisinger of Sycamore, and Jeannie Wymore of Huntley, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary Jo is preceded in death by her husband (1996) and her daughter, Debra Dorr (2018) of Arizona. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9th, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E Jefferson Ave, Hampshire, Illinois. Visitation will continue on Friday, July 10th, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Hampshire. Burial will follow at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery in Hampshire, Illinois. Memorials in Mary Jo’s name may be directed to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School, or to the charity of one’s choice.
