Mary Frances Wright

Fran Wright, 96, of Marengo, IL passed away on December 6, 2022, at Valley-Hi Nursing Home in Woodstock, IL. Fran was born on October 5, 1926, in Oak Park, IL to Jay and Beauton Seymour. She attended Century College of Medical Technology in Chicago and interned at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL. She worked as a laboratory technician at Harvard Hospital and Woodstock Memorial and established the lab at Kishwaukee Valley Medical Group clinic, where she worked for 18 years. Fran also enjoyed traveling and in 1996, spent three weeks in the jungles of Mexico at a Guatemalan refugee camp as part of a medical mission team. Fran Married Robert H. Wright on June 29, 1946, in Chicago. Later, they moved to Marengo, IL where Bob owned Wright’s Paint, Wallpaper, and Upholstery Shop. Here, they raised their three children and were active members of the First Presbyterian Church. Fran celebrated 68 years as a member of the church and was very active in Starlighters women’s group. She volunteered at the church’s thrift store, the McHenry County Historical Society, and was a long standing member of the Marengo Women’s Association. She was an avid reader and member of Friends of the Library. She is preceded in death by her parents (1985, 1987), husband, Robert Wright (1992), granddaughter, Kim Bryan (2020), and grandson, Zachary Wright (2021). She is survived by her 3 children: Cyndie (John) Hunter, Robert (Vicki) Wright, and Gregory Wright; four grandchildren: Kelli (Ryan) Wysinski, Michael (Meredith) Wright, Ashley Wright, and Taylor Wright; her sister: Bonnie (Jack) McCrary, her niece, DeAnna McCrary, and nephew, Jay (Colleen) McCrary, great-nephews and niece; and her many four-legged great granddogs and close friends. The Wright family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Valley-Hi Nursing Home and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care that she received. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Marengo or Marengo Public Library A Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 1:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 203 Washington St. in Marengo. Visitation will be prior to services at the church from 11 AM to 1 PM
