Peggy Ann Courier

Peggy Ann (Burke) Courier, 79 of Rockford and a 1964 Marengo High School graduate, died peacefully at 2 am with her husband and three children surrounding her on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Peggy was born on March 22, 1945 in Sycamore, IL. She is the daughter of Clifford and Marian (Flemming) Burke of Marengo, IL. She married her high school “sweet heart”, Weston J. Courier on September 12, 1964 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marengo. They had recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and 64 years since their first date. Peggy worked at the Marengo State Bank during her high school years and the 1st National Bank in Evanston during their first two years of marriage. Since then, she dedicated herself to her life’s goal, to be a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an impeccable home maker, and will always be remembered for cooking her family’s favorites such as potato salad, tacos and veggie pizza. Family gatherings were her absolute favorite times. She also enjoyed traveling with Wes. They traveled to 49 of the 50 US states and took trips to France, Ireland and England. She is survived by her husband, Weston J. Courier of Rockford; 3 children, Weston (Dr. Deana) Courier, Jr., Christine (Jeff) Edwards and Denise (Chuck) Clark; 10 grandchildren, Jordyn (Derrick) Wilson, Morgan, Payton, Austin, and Reagan Courier, Dr. Jessica (Eric) Hyla, Nathan and Julia Edwards, Braden and Graham Clark; 3 great grandchildren, Derrick J. Wilson (DJ), Mya A. Wilson, Owen J. Hyla; siblings, Reney Ackman, Judy (Don) Frohling, Jack (Penny) Burke, Kathy (Norm) Dusenberry, sister-in-law, Susan Burke. She was Preceded in death by her parents, brother, Gerry Burke and brother-in-law, Charles Ackman. The Courier family extends their heart felt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Northern Illinois Hospice of Rockford who professionally and loving provided her comfort and care for the past two years. Visitation will be held 9am-12pm Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, 412 Jackson Street, Marengo IL, with a funeral service to follow at 12pm. A luncheon will be provided immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to: Northern Illinois Hospice and the American Cancer Society.
