Randal D. "Randy" Heine

Randal D. “Randy” Heine, 62, of Hampshire passed away suddenly early Saturday morning, February 10, 2024, due to a heart attack. He was born March 17, 1961, in Elgin, the son of Herbert and Florence (Homeyer) Heine. Randy moved to Hampshire when he was 5 and his grandma showed him how to farm. He was a member of the 1979 Class of Hampshire High School. Randy married Jodi Gerlach on August 8, 1998, in Springbrook, Iowa. He was on the board of St. John’s United Church of Christ and was a life-long member. Besides farming his whole life, Randy was a volunteer firefighter for 10 years in Hampshire. He loved bowling and Dart ball with friends and had many stories to share from those nights. He loved hosting “church” on Saturday nights and was loved by everyone. Randy would always lend a helping hand to anyone and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jodi; his daughters, Meagan of Genoa, Jessie & Kaitlyn of Hampshire; his siblings, Rick (Sue) Heine & Brenda (Steve) Baker both of Hampshire; nieces and nephews, Erin (Jake) Ziller, Andrew (Amy) Heine, Mallory (Dustin) Keenan; his great nieces and nephews, Jeremy & Heston Ziller, Tyler Smith, Karli (Chase) Tucker, & Brody, Sienna, Jax, Cole, and Weston Keenan, his mother-in-law, Carol Gerlach; in-laws, Jeff (Kelly) Gerlach, John Gerlach, Chuck (Basia) Gerlach, Chad (Beth) Gerlach, Carrie (Josh) Pitts, Shelby (Ben) Harman; and numerous nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Robert Gerlach; and stepmother, Doris Heine. In anticipation of a large crowd, the visitation and service are being held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Union. Services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, Feb. 16th at St John’s Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St. in Union. You can watch the livestream by clicking on the photos and videos at the time of service. Visitation will be Thursday, February 15th at the church from 2 to 7 pm and will continue Friday prior to services from 1-2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Randy’s name may be directed to St. John’s UCC, 11821 E. Grant Hwy, Hampshire, IL 60140, or the Hampshire Fire Protection Dist.
