James Weberpal

August 26, 1934 - March 28, 2022

James Weberpal, 87, of Burlington, passed away Monday morning, March 28, 2022, at Northwestern Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL. He was born August 26, 1934, in Elgin, the son of Adam and Rosa “Rosie” (Schlick) Weberpal. Jim was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1957 to 1959 in Frankfort Germany. He then worked on the family farm until joining the Laborers Union in 1968, until retirement. Jim was a lifelong member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He loved to take short excursions to Wisconsin, stop at new places, and he could tell you where you could get a good meal and a good deal. Jim was a person who was never short for words and loved to share information and stories. He was our family’s go-to person for genealogy, having traveled to Germany to visit relatives and glean information. He also had extensive knowledge of the history of the Burlington/Hampshire area. He was a lifelong resident of Burlington and provided much information and pictures for the “Burlington Commemorative Book”, 1906-2006. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his son, Wayne; his brother, Donald (Maurine) Weberpal of Sycamore; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Casper in infancy, and Raymond (Marge) Weberpal; and sisters, Irene (Alvia Sr.) Lee and Ruth (Gene) Peto. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson Ave. in Hampshire. Military burial will follow at the Catholic church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church prior to mass from 10 to 11:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim’s name may be directed to the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School.
