Shirley A. Carlson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Shirley A. Carlson, 79, of Marengo died Friday, July 15, 2022, at Florence Nursing Home. Born Dec. 17, 1942, in Woodstock, the daughter of Lyle and Edna (Walters) Hildebrandt. Married her husband Don Carlson on Nov. 21, 1964, at Zion Lutheran Church and together they raised three children. Shirley and Don were the proud owners of Marengo Greenhouse and Florist for over 20 years. After selling the business in 2008 and retiring they were able to enjoy the little things. Shirley was known for her baking and cross stich skills and would stay busy working on her flowers. She is a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church as was a member of the Ladies Aid. Shirley was a kindhearted and caring person who cherished her time spent with family and friends, she will be missed by all. Survivors include her husband, Don; children, Darrell, Dean (Kathy) and Sarah (Warren) Douglas; grandchildren, Brittany Carlson (Eric Wares), Zachary (Lori) Carlson and Taylor (Octavio) Diaz; great grandchildren, Kinsley Wares, Luke and Parker Carlson and Josie Diaz; brother, Wayne (Betty) Hildebrandt and nephew, Eric. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church, 412 Jackson St. Marengo, from 4-7p.m. in the chapel and continues Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until time of prayer at 10:45 a.m. Funeral Service Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 11 a.m. in the chapel.
