Dale Linda Wesemann

Dale Linda (Atkins) Wesemann, 76, of Danforth, Illinois, died Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, Illinois. Dale was born on March 13, 1949, in Trenton, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Joan (Darby) and Edward Atkins. Dale was a 1967 graduate of Morristown High School in New Jersey. She married Larry Edward Wesemann in 1970 at St Peter's Lutheran Church in Hampshire, Illinois. Dale was a lifelong animal lover and worked at the Bradley Animal Hospital in Bradley, Illinois, for almost 40 years. She loved and was loved by the clients and coworkers during her time there. One way Dale showed her love to others is in the creation and distribution of her delicious sugar cookies. Many will try to duplicate the recipe, but very few will be able to put the amount of love into the cookies as Dale did. Dale’s love of traveling got her to almost all of the 48 consecutive United States. While raising her two children the family went on annual summer vacations and later in life she enjoyed annual trips with her daughter, Lori and sister, Beverly. Dale was a devoted wife and mother and is survived by her husband, Larry and her two children, Dan (Jodie) Wesemann and Lori Wesemann. Dale was also a loving grandmother and is survived by her two grandsons, Connor and Parker Wesemann. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Beverly (Ray) Kopp, Gary (Loisann) Darby, Joan (Mark) Mimnaugh, John Darby, Mark Darby, Penny (Steve) Silva, Sandy (Tracy) Barnes, cousin Trudy (Alba) Atkins; her brothers and sisters in-laws, Linda Wesemann, Sharon (Joy) Wesemann, Randy (Janet) Wesemann, Dennis (Tammy) Wesemann, Sue Jaycox, David (Anne) Wesemann, Roger (Margeret) Wesemann, Theresa Gager; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandmother, Eliza Grabrant, mother-in-law, Jeanette Wesemann, father-in-law in-law Herman Wesemann, and cousins, Cdr. Tommy H Atkins, USN, and Col. Edward J. Atkins, USAF. The Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 11am, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 43W301 N. Plank Road in Plato Center. Burial will be in the Hampshire Center Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, June 2, 2025, from 4pm to 7pm at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. If you plan to attend please wear some red, Dale’s favorite, to honor her. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution in her name can be donated to the New Beginnings for Cats, 7701 E 3500N Rd, Bourbonnais, IL 60914.
