Jean E. Stojan

Jean E. Stojan, 95, of Arvada Colorado, formerly of Hampshire, passed away Friday, November 23 at her daughter’s home in Arvada where she had made her home for the past couple of years. She was born February 2, 1923 in Elgin, the daughter of Eric and Lillian (Lenz) Westerbeck. She attended Plato Center High School and was salutatorian of the Class of 1940. Jean married Stanley R. Stojan on October 1, 1944 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Pingree Grove. She and Stanley raised their family in the Pingree Grove and Hampshire area. Along with her time as a homemaker, Jean also worked for the Elgin Watch Factory, Playskool, and Essex Inc. Jean had a lifelong love of music. In her younger years, she played in a local dance band, “The Swingettes” with her two sisters, sang in her church choir, and enjoyed dancing with her husband. She was also an avid sports fan, following her favorite PGA golfers and especially her “Cubbies,” grateful to see them finally win the World Series. Most important to her were her family and her faith. The love and laughter she brought to her family, and especially her strength and deep faith through the loss of her husband and three children, continue to inspire them and drew them close to her. She was and will always be much beloved. Surviving are a daughter Sandy (Jerry) Fasso of Arvada CO; grandchildren Marcy Buschbacher, Jeff Stojan, Bradly Trede, Lauryn Trede, Garrick Fasso, Lynden Fasso, and Sheri Stadie; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister Velda (the late Jack) Grimes. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stan on Feb. 4, 1991, daughter Karen Trede, son Steve Stojan, son Randy Stojan, and sister Lois (the late Gus) Follman. Funeral Services will be held 11 am Friday, Nov. 30 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 Terwilliger St., Hampshire with Burial following in the Hampshire Center Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm with a VFW Ladies Auxiliary walkthrough at 4pm at Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park Street and will continue on Friday at the church from 10 to 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church (Hampshire) or the Ladies VFW Auxiliary of Hampshire.
