Patricia L. Winter

Patricia "Pat" L. Winter, 67, of Elgin passed away suddenly, Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Northwestern University Hospital in Chicago. She was born June 21, 1953, in Elgin the daughter of Arthur and Isabelle (Herrmann) Stadler. Pat grew up in Hampshire and was a 1971 graduate of Hampshire High School. She married Jeffrey M. Winter on Aug. 11, 1973, at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Hampshire. They were residents of Elgin before building their home in Plato Twp. in 1987. Pat had worked as a secretary for many years for several area businesses. She enjoyed cooking and baking, sewing, fishing and loved gardening. But what brought her the most joy was spoiling her 6 grandchildren. Pat had the most generous and selfless heart. She cared so much for others, especially her family and addressing their needs before her own. She loved her husband, children and grandchildren with every ounce of her being. Pat made an effort to make everyone feel special. Those that knew her loved her sense of spirit, passion for life and desire to gather with family and friends. She loved hosting parties and making amazing meals, appetizers and desserts. She enjoyed fishing with Jeff and making several trips to Northern Wisconsin over the summer. Pat treasured every gift, picture, craft and project that was made for her, especially those from the little hands of her grandchildren. She welcomed everyone into her home with a big smile and so much love. She will be missed dearly but we know she is rejoicing in heaven. Surviving is her husband, Jeff; three children, Mike (Melissa Meyers) Winter of Sycamore, Lisa (Matt) Smith of Marengo; Scott (Katie) Winter of Sycamore; 6 grandchildren, Amy Jane, Hannah Jo, Emily Joy, Taylor Rey, Lucas Russell, and Lucy Lynn; three sisters, Cheryl (Fred) Engel, Marilyn Meyn, and Denise (Chuck) Sekorski; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 PM on Friday, June 25, at Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St. in Hampshire. Private Funeral Services will follow the visitation. Following cremation, private burial will be in the St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pat’s name may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
